The Brief.
A concept proposal for Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona — designing a calming experience for patients in a procedure room. The idea: replace an empty ceiling with something that actively helps people relax.
The Approach.
The solution is a modular meditation animation projected onto the ceiling, guiding patients through a series of environments by following the gentle flight of a firefly. Each environment shifts in style and mood, while the underlying audio track holds a steady 60 bpm — a pace proven to slow the heart rate and ease anxiety. The visuals combine 3D animation, soft gradients and blur effects, alongside a series of accompanying posters and a research book documenting the concept.
The Outcome.
A fully developed concept spanning animation, print, and spatial design — demonstrating how motion and visual design can serve a genuine human need. A personal favourite that sits at the intersection of design, wellbeing, and storytelling.
